Having returned some time ago from the grape and sugar beet harvest, a family of seasonal farm labourers set up camp on the outskirts of the city. One of them, an elderly man called Andrés, is the hero of this story. Every night, he tells his grandson of his plans and ambitions, whispering softly until the boy falls asleep.
Ever since an old fortune-teller read his hand, Andrés has always had the same dream, one in which he is a king who has come all the way from the Orient. And this particular year, his dream comes true and he is chosen to be one of the Three Kings who gives away sweets at the entrance to the department store. On seeing him dressed as a king, all his family go with him to the store and try to take home all the things they need. Not being able to arrest all of them, the police take Andrés to prison as punishment. His family, however, stick together and, displaying great courage, go to the prison gates to demand his release. They simply can¿t go home without their King.
